The Sara Fine Institute

History

The Sara Fine Institute (SFI) was established by the School of Information Sciences (SIS) in honor of Dr. Sara Fine at the time of her retirement. The institute is a University-wide resource based in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Institute continues Dr. Fine's research into the novel issues emerging from the impact of technology on interpersonal behavior. Dr. Fine's former students created an endowment to foster the continuation of her work and support an annual SFI lecture series.

In the fall of 2007, the Institute will host the first in a series of annual lectures by distinguished national speakers addressing the complex opportunities and challenges in the field.

In 1999, founders of the Institute created endowment to continue the groundbreaking work of Dr. Sara Fine.
